What’s the hardest type of welding?

The hardest form of welding has been said to be Tungsten Inert Gas or TIG welding. Why is TIG welding considered one of the hardest forms of welding?

Why is TIG considered the hardest form of welding? – sub

TIG is considered one of the most difficult forms of welding for obvious reasons with one of them being that it’s a tedious process and is challenging to master. Other reasons why TIG welding is considered one of the more difficult welding processes to master are below:

  • The welder has to be in more control when TIG welding: When TIG welding a welder must be in complete control (or has complete control over everything). TIG welders have control over things such as heating, current, and gas cooling.
  • Welders must use both hand and foot when TIG welding: When TIG welding welder use their feet to control amperage (variable amperage control device).
  • TIG welding is a slow process: TIG welding is a detailed, slow process so if seed is something you need then using the TIG may be a pain. It takes a bit of time to finish welds when using TIG.
  • Welding surface must be clean: TIG welding requires the welding surface to be completely clean. There can be no rust, paint or debris or the weld you’re doing will develop defects.
